Maguelone CALMELS
Photographie

Passionate about photography, self-taught, and a lover of images, her range of creations and styles is diverse: fashion, portraits, landscapes, lifestyle…

She uses digital photography with her Canon EOS 5D and Leica C-Lux cameras. She enjoys capturing situations as authentically as possible and creating powerful photos. She plays with contrasts and lighting.

For Partage des Arts, she wanted to present her work "Call me Queen," shot in Hong Kong in 2020 during the Covid pandemic. Despite the health crisis, she was fortunate to be invited to photograph transgender individuals before, during, and after their performances. It was an incredible human experience and an invitation to question the clichés we hold about this world, of men by day and women by night. Here there are no masks; the pictures are raw and signed like a documentary.

This series earned her a pre-selection as a finalist in the Villa Noailles photography competition in Hyères (2023).

She has exhibited in Hong Kong (Petticoat Lane - 2020) and Paris (Petit Bain - 2021).

Based in Gordes, she continues to marvel at the richness of the Provençal landscapes and to enrich her repertoire.
