Photographie
Michel Kirch, a visual artist photographer born in Metz, exhibits his work across Europe, the United States, and Asia. With 80 exhibitions to his name, including 40 solo shows in 18 countries, and numerous publications in international press, his works are now featured in public and private collections worldwide.
His work is widely recognized and awarded; he has received the GRAND PRIX EURAZEO, the title of Ambassador of Interculturality at UNESCO, the "MONOCHROME PHOTOGRAPHER OF THE YEAR" award, the MONOVISIONS PHOTOGRAPHY AWARDS, the Prix de Photographie from the Académie des Beaux-Arts, the International Prize "Spirit of the Mediterranean," the Creative Quarterly award, the Festphoto Brazil award, the 32nd Chelsea International Fine Art Competition award, the Black & White Magazine award, and the AZART PHOTO Prize. He participates in MIA, Paris Photo, Fotofever, as well as numerous museums, festivals, and biennials.
In 2015, he published his first monograph, "Les Éveillés," with texts by Christian Noorbergen, which earned him the title of "awakener" from philosopher Edgar Morin, who wrote an introduction for the book. In October 2019, he was the guest of honor at the Salon d'Automne on the Champs-Élysées—marking the first time in the history of this historic salon that a photographer was honored as the guest of honor. In 2022, he exhibited at the Venice Biennale, invited by the European Cultural Center. Also in 2022, he published a work/book with the Renard Pâle Editions and author Shmuel Meyer, winner of the Goncourt Prize for Novels. Michel Kirch's work begins with traditional black-and-white photography. This raw material is then processed on a graphic tablet to create fictions often described by critics as "magical realism."
